This shaman doll surprised me up to the very last moment of her creation. I saw a photo in an anatomy book of a female pelvis complete with reproductive organs. I bought the book and cut out the pelvis knowing that it would be just the right size for a doll related to my upcoming hysterectomy. I spent the evening painting, glittering, and placing jewels onto the tiny cardboard pelvis while making sure that I left the lines of the initial diagram intact. It reminds me of a butterfly...

I spent another two days working nonstop on the figure of the doll. It was a birthing process which is how I feel about the preparations for my surgery. I used friendship bracelets for her colorful hair...She has jewels of the sea and fish swimming throughout...I kept placing the anatomical drawing on her pelvis as her construction progressed. For some reason, it never felt quite right.

At the very end, I hesitantly placed the mask over her face just to see what might transpire...That was the moment that the spark ignited the flame of my creation. She took on a tribal quality that embodied strength, wisdom, beauty, protection, healing and joy! These are the qualities that I will move forward with into this new courageous phase of my life...

I have been experiencing many days of not feeling well recently. It is difficult for me to photograph and post my work...Please continue to stay in touch with me. My art blog family is an essential and cherished part of my life!

My surgery date is set for January 26th. I am asking all of my friends and family to think of me during the half hour before my procedure which will be between 8:45-9:15 AM Mountain Time. The surgery will begin at 9:20AM. Mark your calendars and wrap me in a blanket of love made up of all of the healing colors of the sea...you can throw in some shells and seaweed and don't forget the mermaids...

I'll be there in spirit, Camilla! I've put it on my calendar so I won't mess up and forget. Your doll is awesome, of course. She embodies all that you say and more. No doubt she'll ease your way through all of this. Sorry you've had so much pain and that you've had to wait... hope the benefits will outweigh the extra days in pain. Love and hugs, Robin

Hi Friend
I sense that you are coming to terms with this new chapter in your life. I'm so glad. And look..a butterfly. Symbol of new beginning, freedom, but not a mask to hide behind. An accessory to enhance all that "Surgery Shaman" affirms. I was glad to see that Surgery Shaman is a girl!

Thank you for letting us know when you will need our strongest energy to come to you. Sending peace and calm to you.
Love,
Carol

I've got you penned in Camilla! Your doll is strong and powerful and her mask is resplendent! You have such a beautiful outlook that, despite your pain, you're energy is still finding ways to manifest itself -- She's a beautiful doll -- I love the feathers so that you will take flight and the heart but the friendship hair is my fave... xoxo Susan

Wow this is a wonderful expression of what you are going through at the moment Camilla. The mask certainly does give the doll a tribal feel (whilst still very feminine). I love the locks made of friendship bracelets.

Will be thinking of you on the day of your surgery and sending positive energy.

You have been constantly in my thoughts Camilla. I hope your upcoming surgery helps you feel much better.

Your doll is stunning! (and has so many layers of feeling and healing in it).

You will definitely be in my heart on January 26 and as I live by the sea I will definitely be sending healing energy from the ocean near me.

Take good care

Dot xx

Dear Camilla,

What an inspired shaman doll this is! It has a very strong personality, indeed, and I could look at it for ages.

All my best wishes for your health, and I will find out about the time difference between your place and mine(Northern Germany), and join the protective shield made up of people thinking of you.

A big hug,
Sabine
